January has come and gone, and I find myself with some real news to report. Not only is there a new novel coming out from Loose Id in February, but Alex and I have sold another short story to a print anthology.

First, the novel. Lord and Master is my first contemporary romance novel, although I've published a few shorts. I received the finals of the art yesterday, and Anne Cain has done me a stunning piece of yaoi art. You can find the art and some excerpts on my website, but the draft blurb is as follows:
When Mark's PhD supervisor sent him for a job interview with an old university friend, he didn't mention that the friend was devastatingly handsome. He also didn't mention to either of them that the other one was gay.
Steven was just looking for a young scientist to train as a PA to help him run his technology company. No extra services required. But watching other people react to a young, pretty man playing secretary to an openly gay CEO amused them both. Subverting the stereotype, watching people wonder if they were having an affair, was an entertaining game. Then the game became real as the fantasy caught them both up, and Mark was left wondering... how real? Because he's the one PA in the building who can't marry the boss...

Now, you know the drill. "When's it coming out?" "Soon!(TM)" But let's just say it's Valentine-themed...

The short story is another joint effort from Alex and myself -- five thousand words of fun with a would-be dom. It will be published in "Slash and Burn", an anthology of slash fanfic stories with the serial numbers filed off. Sybaritic Press are planning to debut this book at Romantic Times in April. They're also planning to be at Comic Con and DragonCon, and their books are stocked in many glbt bookshops. And it will also be available via Amazon, of course.

Dolphin Dreams is going through editing at the moment, and at some point in the near future I'm going to get a manuscript covered with electronic red ink back from my editor. In the meantime I'm working on another rewrite of a short story into a longer format (though this time only to Fling length), and the outline and planning stages of the next novel.

I finally got around to Doing Something with the CafePress shop. Each book now has its own shop, with a small selection of bits and pieces with the cover art. The goods are all at CafePress base price with no profit margin; they're just there in case anyone wants a mug or teeshirt, as I've got some very pretty cover art and *I* wanted a teeshirt. The top level shop with a random selection is here: http://www.cafepress.com/julesjones, but you can find a list of all my shops from that page, or here: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/about_me.aspx?s=julesjones. I've only put a few of the things Cafepress does in each shop, so if anyone actually wants something like a dog teeshirt, email me and I'll put it in for you.

I'll be running a general contest for "Lord and Master", but this one's just for the loop and blog people. The prize is a download of the book, although you probably won't get it before the book goes on sale, as I usually get *my* copies about five minutes before it goes live on the Loose Id website. :-)
Send the answer to the following question to my gmail address (*not* the loop) by the morning of Wednesday 7 Feb:
What is the name of Mark's PhD supervisor?
You'll find the answer in one of the excerpts available at the website. Answers to jules.jones@gmail.com
